HyperXtreme Licensing
HyperXtremeSQL licenses are inexpensive and available in packages. Separate licenses are available for internal use of the engine by the customer or for redistribution as part of an application or software solution. The licenses are based on the role performed by the computer hosting HXSQL: server or desktop. Each package includes some basic or extended support.
Evaluation copies:
Evaluation licenses for the PDA version are available only upon payment for at least the minimum support or license package (SUP-001-BAS or LIC-001-002-BAS). Free evaluation licenses for desktop and server use (valid for two months) are available to established companies that plan to use or distribute the equivalent of the LIC-010-100-EXT. These licenses cover only the JDK 1.4 version of the software. However, we prefer that you buy a support unit (see above) or an internal-use license (see below) and contribute to the long term development of HSQLDB. Please inquire including a description of your application and required number of licenses. Email address hxsql(at)cluedup.com.
Licenses for internal use only (see the End User License Agreement):
- 1 server license + 2 desktop licenses + 1/2 hour basic support (LIC-001-002-BAS): 160 Euros
- 2 server licenses OR 20 desktop licenses OR 40 PDA licenses + 1/2 hour basic support (LIC-002-020-BAS): 240 Euros
- 2 server licenses OR 20 desktop licenses OR 40 PDA licenses + 2 hour extended support (LIC-002-020-EXT): 480 Euros
Licenses for internal use or redistribution as part of an application or integrated solution:
- 4 server licenses OR 40 desktop licenses OR 80 PDA licenses + 1/2 hour basic support (LIC-004-040-BAS): 480 Euros
- 10 server licenses OR 100 desktop licenses OR 200 PDA licenses + 2 hours extended support (LIC-010-100-EXT): 1,000 Euros
- 50 server licenses OR 500 desktop licenses OR 1000 PDA licenses + 10 hours extended support (LIC-050-500-EXT): 4,000 Euros
Above desktop license prices are for technical and professional applications. Much cheaper desktop licenses are available for redistribution with personal productivity and consumer applications. For all redistribution licenses please inquire including a description of your application and required number of licenses and link to your company web site. A separate License Agreement with easy terms should be signed for redistribution. Email address hxsql(at)cluedup.com.
Volume discounts are available for larger deployments. Please inquire including a description of your application(s) and required number of licenses. Email address hxsql(at)cluedup.com.
If required, one server license can be exchanged with 10 desktop licenses at the time of purchase.
Software updates will be supplied free of charge for one year from the data of purchase. Update service can be extended for 25% of the license cost per year. Each license package can be upgraded to a larger one within 3 months of purchase at price difference.
Details:
A Server host is defined as a host that has multiple simultaneous connections to other hosts or clients. Unlimited JDBC clients can connect to a Server host.
A Desktop host is defined as a host that acts as a personal computer.
The HXSQL engine itself can be used in client-server or embedded mode in both cases.
There is no extra charge for more than one instance of HXSQL running on a server host.
Examples for the use of one server license.
- One or more instances of HXSQL run in client-server mode on one server box. Several applications connect to this server.
- A server box hosts a number of web applications each running an embedded (in-process) instances of HXSQL.
- A desktop computer is used to establish network links with multiple hosts and gather information to store in a local instance of HXSQL (a web crawler is an example). In this case, the desktop computer is counted as a server host.
Example for the use of one desktop license
- A desktop application connects to HXSQL on the same box using the embedded or client server mode.
